You can now use SMS payment reminders in addition to email to boost recovery rates in Baremetrics Recover.
SMS reminders help you reach customers faster and improve response rates, especially when emails go unopened.
1. Import Phone Numbers
Before you send SMS reminders, please make sure customer phone numbers are available in Recover.
Go to Recover → Import Phone Numbers.
Upload your file or sync from your billing source (if supported).
Only customers with valid phone numbers will receive SMS reminders.
2. Enable SMS
Once phone numbers are imported, you can turn on SMS reminders.
Go to Recover → SMS Settings.
Toggle on each SMS reminder you’d like to send.
Add your default message template, you can personalize it with variables like
{company_name}or{billing_link}.Click Save changes.
Your SMS reminders will now send in addition to email reminders for any customer with a phone number attached.
3. How SMS Credits Work
SMS operates on a credit-based system:
Each text message costs 1 credit = 0.01 cent.
You can top up credits anytime in your Recover settings.
If your balance reaches zero, SMS reminders pause automatically (email reminders continue as usual).
Once credits are added, SMS resumes automatically, no setup needed.
✅ Optional: Enable auto-refill to automatically recharge credits when your balance runs low.
4. Compliance Considerations
We handle SMS compliance automatically, but here are key points to know:
Opt-Outs: Every SMS includes a standard opt-out (e.g. “Reply STOP to unsubscribe”).
Respecting Preferences: If a customer opts out, Baremetrics will stop sending them SMS reminders.
Regional Rules: Some regions restrict marketing SMS. Baremetrics SMS is strictly for transactional payment reminders, not marketing.
